James M. Johnson, President and CEO

Prior to attending Kansas State University, Jim spent many summers working in the family construction business. In 1984, he graduated with a degree in Construction Science and started his career with a commercial building contractor in Texas. In 1986, Jim returned to Colorado Springs and GE Johnson Construction. With the dream of one day taking over the family business, Jim spent the next 10 years gaining experience in estimating, project supervision, project management, division management, and business development. He served in the role of Vice President before becoming President and CEO of the company in 1997. Jim and his father, company founder Gilbert E. Johnson, worked side by side for the next 3 years to ensure a successful transition of this employee-owned company.

Jim enjoys leading the team to become a regional force in construction management and general contracting. His passion for community service and customer satisfaction makes him a very active leader with GE Johnson Construction.

Jim and his wife Laura have 4 children, all of whom are in college. They enjoy being outdoors with their Labrador Retrievers in the mountains of Colorado and spending time at their ranch.
